The US government has suspended several companies, including Microsoft, from a program that helps foreign workers get green cards, accusing them of abusing the system. In response, India's tech industry body, Nasscom, stated that immigration and skilled talent mobility should be treated as separate issues. Nasscom added that Indian tech firms have reduced their dependence on H-1B visas. Microsoft also defended its practices, saying the vast majority of its US workforce consists of Americans.
