Mandeep K Bhandari, a 2001-batch IAS officer from the AGMUT cadre, has been appointed chairperson of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) following a Centre-led bureaucratic reshuffle. Bhandari, who has completed over 25 years in government service, will take over from Lokhande Prashant Sitaram, who held the additional charge. The CBSE is one of India's major school education boards, responsible for examinations and academic administration involving a large network of schools and students across India and abroad.
