Director Girish AD has expressed frustration over the shelving of Premalu 2, a romantic comedy that became one of the highest-grossing Malayalam films of 2024. The team spent an entire year working on the sequel, which was scrapped without explanation. Girish AD called the decision "unnecessary" and a "waste" of a year's worth of work.
