Delhi Residents Demand Better Safety and Maintenance for DDA Parks

A 17-year-old girl was gang-raped at Aastha Kunj Park in southeast Delhi, highlighting safety and maintenance issues with the 142-acre green space and other DDA parks. Residents and local RWAs have flagged poor lighting, broken boundary walls, and inadequate security, calling for better ownership, collaboration, and transparency from the DDA. The Delhi LG has directed a safety audit of all DDA parks, and additional security measures are expected to be implemented, including bike patrolling and improved lighting.
