A 48-year-old woman, Mary Vijila, was hacked to death by a 23-year-old man, Gnanaprakash, in Thoothukudi district on October 23, 2026. The victim had objected to Gnanaprakash's contact with her minor daughter, leading to a violent confrontation. Gnanaprakash has been arrested, and further investigations are underway to rescue his two minor daughters, who were also taken from the victim's house.
