Activist Sonam Wangchuk and his wife Gitanjali Angmo have criticized the Ladakh administration for cancelling land allotted to their institute in Leh. The administration told the high court that the allotment lapsed because the Himalayan Institute of Alternative Learning failed to complete the lease deed. Rebutting the claim, Wangchuk shared an official 2021 government letter showing that official delays caused the hold-up, despite his repeated written and verbal requests.
